"The dog has got more fun out of man than man has out of the dog, for the clearly demonstrable reason that man is the more laughable of the two animals". - James Thurber.
Cathy Malcherczyk
Cathy has a wide knowledge of animal behaviour at a scientific level, holding a BSc degree in Psychology from Exeter University, and she has subsequently been training dogs for many years. She started her life in the dog world when she was given a deaf English Setter (Emma) as a birthday present.
Emma became famous, appearing in all the National newspapers, television and top magazines, after an article was written about her describing her as the 'lip reading dog'. Cathy immediately had to teach her to lip read so that her adoring fan club was not disappointed!
She then went on to work in Competitive Obedience and actually won her classes in Exemption shows when she put her mind to work and not being the cabaret act. Cathy now breeds and works Bearded Collies in Competitive Obedience. Her Beardie 'Poppy' has competed in the Inter Regional Obedience Competition at Crufts four times to date, winning Novice in 1999 and coming 3rd in Test A in 2000. Chlova, Poppy's daughter is also doing well in this field and Chlova's daughter Asher (the furry fury) has just started out on her competitive life showing a lot of promise.

Lisa takes both the Puppy and Adult Starter classes.
Mike and Maureen Smith.
Maureen and Mike have kept dogs for more years than they care to remember, but thought they were fully trained if they sat down before being given their food bowls (the dogs that is), with the coming of a new puppy they decided to join Puppytime and just stayed on.
Maureen helps out at the classes and Mike has written the website and is our official photographer. They are owned by three dogs Tilly a Working English Springer, Fern and Kali (our new pup) both Working Cocker Spaniels. "Our dogs work two local alternate Saturday shoots and enjoy the sport immensely. Tilly is into her fourth beating season, Fern being younger has started her third beating season they both provide good sport for the guns. Kali shows promise of being a useful dog and is working her way towards being taken out on the beating line, hopefully next October. Its a great pleasure for us to see them working at their intended occupation".
"Let loose the spaniels wherewith to beat the breaks and thickets".
